Physical demands: Ability to work at length with pencils, paint brushes, x-acto knives, rulers, etc. Classes may involve sitting or standing for long periods and wrist and shoulder mobility. Please contact us to discuss adjustments and modifications if needed.

Supplies: Sketchbook, apron/work shirt. Basic supplies including primary color acrylic paints, charcoal, graphite pencils, and used classroom brushes and tools are available, but students are encouraged to bring their own additional supplies, especially brushes and other art tools.

In this art series, participants will learn introductory techniques in: slab pottery (2/5, 2/19), book arts (2/19, 2/26), and printmaking (3/4, 3/11). This series is offered through College for Older Adults at a discounted rates, but is open to ages 16+ at its regular pricing through the Museum. 

2D Art Fundamentals through Collage

Mondays 4/8-5/13 (6 weeks) from 2:00PM-5:00PM

Minimum 3 people. Maximum 8 people.

This class looks at art elements and the principles of design, taking participants through collage exercises to better understand composition development through the creation of visual balance, movement, rhythm, variety, and more. A “2D Design” back-to-basics class through the medium of collage. For best results, participants should plan to engage in homework to complete exercises started in class. Discussion of work done for this class will occur through periodic critique sessions. All supplies provided.
