Youth Art Classes provide fun one-off art experiences designed to teach children artistic skills and techniques
Mini Pumpkin Decorating
There will be two mini foam pumpkins provided to each child to decorate with paint and markers.

Ages: 5-12 (wider age range for pumpkin decorating)
Minimum 5 students, maximum 20 students
Clay Mushroom Craft
Students will follow step-by-step instructions to create mushroom sculptures out of clay or model magic. Then, the
students can paint the mushroom sculptures if they choose.

Washi Tape Fall Leaf Paintings
Students will follow step-by-step instructions on how to paint a fall tree scene, except the leaves on the tree. Then, the students will add washi tape leaves and layer them to create the leaves of the trees.

Christmas Ornament Making
Students will make two different Christmas tree ornaments. One will be an ornament made out of popsicle craft sticks to make a snowman, a Santa, or a Christmas tree. The other ornament will be a Christmas confetti contact paper ornament.

Winter Tree Squeegee Painting
Students will use different painting techniques with watercolors and acrylic paints, including squeegee paint applications. By using different mixed media the students will create a graphic winter landscape painting.

Winter Bird Mixed Media Collage
Students can layer different mixed media techniques including watercolor painting, acrylic paint, and various collage materials. By using these various mediums and techniques the students will create a winter scene of a bird.

Valentine’s Day Conversation Hearts
Students will sculpt their own large conversation hearts out of clay. They can design the text and then paint the hearts that they create.
February 8th

Kente Cloth Woven Drawing
Students will create their own woven drawing inspired by the Ghanaian Kente cloth textiles. Students will create a printing block with yarn to decorate one sheet of paper and oil pastels to decorate their other sheet. They will then use weaving techniques to combine and glue their two drawings.

St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Painting
A step-by-step guided painting class of a rainbow and pot-of-gold scene. Students can also add some gold glitter or other 3D mixed-media to these paintings.

Bunny Silhouette Watercolor Painting
Students will create a watercolor springtime background scene, then they will create silhouette shapes of rabbits to decorate the landscape.
March 21st

Watercolor Umbrella Drawing
Students will create an illustration of a person with an umbrella and a watercolor background. This will give them a rainy spring day theme, but the various materials would give them room for experimentation.

Cotton Swab Pointillism Cherry Blossom Trees
Students will create their own paintings of cherry blossom trees by creating a landscape background and then using bunches of cotton swabs to create the trees’ texture.
