Teen Lab Classes – 2022

Tuesdays, 5-7

Teen Lab Session 1 takes participants through a variety of digital and physical media projects and film analysis to build technical skills and support the development of creative voice. Pick and choose your favorite subjects! 

Teen Lab Session 2 participants will collaborate to concept, design and paint a mural on a wall in Art Lab, based on a specified theme. Session 2 participants should plan to attend all weeks, if they wish to be involved in the concept and design process.

Cost: Pay-what-you-can. Suggested: $15/week

Required supplies: Notebook/sketchbook, pen/pencil, 32 GB USB drive (or larger), and access to cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)

Session 1

• Jan 4: 3D Printing 1

​​Use Tinkercad to create a 3d design, and then files will print before and during the second session. 

 

• Jan 11: 3D Printing 2

 

• Jan 18: Digital Painting

Use the Wacom tablets and Adobe Photoshop to create a digital masterpiece!

 

• Jan 25: Laser Cutting 1

Use Adobe Illustrator to design a small work, and then we will cut them from wood or plexiglass with the laser cutter. Students can make pendants, coasters, small signs or an art piece!

 

• Feb 1: Laser Cutting 2

 

• Feb 8: Stop Motion Video 1

Create your own stop motion video!

 

• Feb 15: Stop Motion Video 2

 

• Feb 22: Digital Painting

Session 2: Mural Project

• April 5 – May 24: Mural Project

A Teen-Team will work together with guidance from Art Lab professionals to conceptualize, design and paint a mural in the Lecture Room over the course of seven weeks.

Discuss creative brief, Visual Research, conceptualizing

Bring in sketch concepts, refine ideas, scan sketches

 

• April 26

Project image and draw it on the wall

Start painting!
