English Paper Piecing (EPP)

SKU: N/A Categories: ,

This class will teach the basic principles of the technique of English Paper Piecing (sometimes referred to as EPP). This technique uses the method of folding fabric around paper shapes and basting them in place until the shapes are sewn together using the traditional whipstitch. Students will practice doing several shapes that will include straight edges, curves, and some with very sharp points. Students will learn the various ways that EPP can be incorporated to create large and small projects and discover how this method can be very helpful with quilt patterns that are more difficult to construct using a traditional approach to piecing. EPP is GREAT for tricky patterns and for creating new ones!

Supply list:

Paper scissors, fabric scissors (small and medium), thimble needles (Rasnkae uses applique needles, but this is personal preference…some prefer quilting needles), pins, small ruler, seam ripper, small binding clips, basting thread, a few 10″ x 10″ pieces of fabric and coordinating threads…scraps will do fine, but be sure to have a mixture of light and dark.*

*WKMA also will have limited amount of cotton fabric scraps, rulers, some scissors and other sewing tools
