About the Project
Zazzy’Z has partnered with William King Museum of Art to raise funds for the gallery renovation project, and raise awareness of Museum exhibitions and events. For each new exhibit opening in 2016, Zazzy’Z will work with WKMA to pair a custom coffee blend with the exhbition. In addition to offering WKMA blends at Zazzy’Z and at the Museum, the latter will also serve the coffee at First Thursday opening receptions.
With your purchase of Zazzy’Z ¡Viva! Premium Blend roast, you are:
– Contributing to the renovation of gallery space at William King Museum of Art that will permanently house WKMA’s
Cultural Heritage Collection (formerly on display at the Fields-Penn House)
– Honoring Betsy White—founder and long-time Director of the Museum—to whom the gallery will be dedicated
– And preserving the history and cultural heritage of southwest Virginia and southern Appalachia for locals, visitors, and
generations to come
Stay tuned to WKMA’s and Zazzy’Z websites and social media accounts for new blends, naming competitions, and promotions.
About Betsy White
Betsy White served as the Director of the William King Museum of Art for nearly twenty years, and under her direction and vision transformed the historic William King High School building into a nationally accredited fine arts museum. She also initiated the award winning VanGogh Outreach program that delivers art education to children in thirteen school districts in Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky.
Betsy is also a respected scholar of Southern Appalachia’s cultural heritage. She has managed the preservation and display of an outstanding collection of nineteenth century regional furniture, handcrafted pottery, baskets and even guns, and launched the
Betsy White Cultural Heritage Project—which culminated in the Cultural Heritage Archive—to document and share her work. She has also authored several books on our region’s heritage, including Great Road Style and Backcountry Makers.
