YOUTH ART CLASSES
Café Pre K

Ages: 4 & 5 Cost: $7 per session
On the third Wednesday of the month, sip coffee with friends while your preschooler engages in an hour-long art adventure at the William King Museum. Homeschool Art Enrichment
Date: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month, May 9
Time: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Ages: 6-12 Cost: $65 for on child, $50 for each additional sibling
William King Museum’s education department is pleased to announce the fall session of our Home School Art Enrichment Program, a two-hour, sequential, art enrichment program for Home School families. During each visit, students will tour the WKM galleries to see artwork and objects from all over the world. Their art adventure continues in the classroom as they make art projects inspired by our exhibits. Students will use a wide variety of mediums providing a wonderful learning opportunity for everyone. Adventures in Art – Printing/Pressing/Painting
Dates: Saturdays, March 3-17, 1:30-3 pm
Ages: 5-12 Cost: $85 including supplies.
A multi-media class using natural materials to create art and design. Students will learn printing processes using stamps carved from potatoes, found objects and plants. Projects include note cards, bookmarks, wrapping paper and covered boxes. Students will also learn to make their own flower and plant press and to press and create with dried flowers. Wanted: Young Leonardos Who Love Exploring Science Through Fun Art Activities
Dates: Sundays, April 15-29, 2:00-4:00 pm
Ages: All ages! Cost: $75
Kids put on your lab coats and get out your beakers! During this series of Sunday classes children will delight in fun and creative art processes that emphasize science discovery. The book, Science Arts: Discovering Science Through Art Experiences, will be utilized as inspiration. Projects will include: exploring changes in states of matter through a melting point ice painting, erect an ice and salt sculpture, study the process of fossilization by casting a clay fossil, blast into an exploration of space with a sugar moon craft, design a paper model of the sun, compose a constellation painting, imagine a spiral galaxy sculpture, digest the food chain as we make glow in dark food, and experiment with a concoction of edible finger paint. Girls Night Out
Dates: Thursday, April 12, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Ages: Adults Cost: $25 each or $40 if pre-registering for both events
Calling all Girls! It’s your night to unleash your creative spirit and discover your inner artist in a fun and relaxed environment. Our instructors will lead you through the process of making something beautiful to take home with you at the end of the evening. No previous art experience required and all materials will be provided. Feel free to bring sips and nibbles to enjoy while you create. Pre-registration is required. This is a class for beginning and experienced painters. Sam Morrow will direct students as they learn how to use this classic medium. Students will develop skills while working on individual projects with guidance and critique by the instructor. This studio class is highly motivating for all who attend. The Portrait in Clay
Dates: Tuesdays, February 7-28, 2 pm- 4:30 pm
Age: Adult Cost: $140, materials included
Cecelia will demonstrate techniques for sculpting the human head and shoulders using clay and an armature. Emphasis will be on eyes, nose, mouth and chin. Patina and adding surface color will be demonstrated and discussed. Cost is $140 and covers instruction plus supplies. All experience levels are welcome.
