About the Exhibition

This exhibition presents the work of four unique artists (Denise Burge of Cincinnati, OH, Ardyth Davis of White Stone, VA, John W. Lefelhocz of Athens, OH and Jen Swearington of Asheville, NC) practicing within the American fiber art movement. Each employs specific techniques in the practice of their craft and are thought provoking in the subjects they explore. They are recognized individually in their approaches to the use of fiber in contemporary art while using visual and stylistic vocabularies that broaden the approaches to material, pattern, texture and technique. Not confined by applied-art traditions, these artists use not only materials commonly employed in the development of quilts and tapestries, but unorthodox substances that heighten the conceptual basis in their work.
