Live Concert and Kids Fest

Abingdon, Virginia (July 19, 2011) – William King Museum: Center for Art and Cultural Heritage is pleased to present a free live concert, featuring the original ‘50s band, “The Dazzlers,” and kids fest in partnership with Charter Media and Capo’s Music Store.  This concert pays tribute to the Museum’s newest exhibition Virginia Rocks! A History of Rockabilly in the Commonwealth, which explores the careers of dozens of 1950s rockers from across the state. This exhibition will open to the general public on July 1, 2011 and will run through December 1, 2011.

The Dazzlers were formed in the ‘50s and still are together today. Come to the concert and participate in an autograph signing during the intermission. Head home with some band merchandise, which will be sold at the event. So come listen to great music and have a rockin’ time!

Join the William King Museum on the front lawn for live music at 4:30 and again at 5:15. Grab dinner or a snack from local food venders on site. Take your children to the Discovery Channel games to have fun and win cool prizes. AND…Get your photo taken with Sponge Bob!  In addition, forty special winners also will be taking home a safe assured ID kit of their child, complete with finger prints, voice recording, photo, and streaming video showing mannerisms and gait, all the information the police could need to help find a missing child. Be listening to your local radio stations for chances to win. Bring your blankets and your folding chairs and come celebrate because Virginia Rocks!
